Lubrication Oil and Grease for

Pink Triangle Turntable Bearings

 Turntable Bearing Lubrication

The lubrication oil that we offer is exactly the same as used by the original Pink Triangle company. We have not messed with the formula in any way. The oil is the same high viscosity oil with same additives to prevent wear, friction and oxidisation.

Bearing lubrication is paramount in keeping your turntable bearing in good condition, and maintaining the correct speed of your turntable.

Cleaning and lubricating the bearing should be done every 6 months.

Lubricating the Turntable Bearing

The nozzle of the oil bottle will need to be pierced for a hole with a pin.

Having carefully removed the acrylic platter and the upper part of the turntable bearing, gently squeeze a very small drop of oil out of the plastic bottle onto the sapphire bearing.

The drop does not need not be any larger than a pin head. Too much oil will cause the bearing to 'drag' and will slow the rotation of the platter.

Check and readjust your turntable speed if necessary.

As an alternative, our latest lubrication product which is recommended for the original non-inverted sapphire type of bearing is a small pot (approx' 3g) of super smooth lithium based grease developed and tested for use with Pink Triangle jewel bearing assemblies.

All that is needed is a small dab of grease on the end of the sponge applicator that is supplied with the lubrication kit, and gently smear it over the accessible part of the bearing. Too much grease will cause the bearing to 'drag' and will slow the rotation of the platter.

Check and readjust your turntable speed as necessary.

Now the awkward bit, replacing the platter and belt.

Please refer to our section on replacing the turntable Drive Belt.

All done, now enjoy listening to your vinyl.
